Adam Knutson

Platform & Knowledge Systems Advisor

I help leadership teams make confident platform, CMS, and content architecture decisions during periods of transition, modernization, and AI adoption.

Increasingly, these initiatives fail not because of AI itself, but because the underlying knowledge and content systems were never governed to support scale, change, or automation.

Short-term advisory · Fractional leadership · Enterprise context

Why This Matters Now

Many organizations are moving quickly into AI initiatives only to discover that the systems feeding those tools were never designed to support governed, structured, enterprise-scale knowledge.

When content models, assets, and ownership are unclear, AI amplifies fragmentation, risk, and inconsistency rather than insight.

My work focuses on helping organizations correct these foundations so AI investments produce durable, defensible outcomes — not short-term demonstrations with long-term consequences.

How I Engage

My work is advisory in nature and focused on clarity, risk reduction, and executive decision support.

Engagements are typically short-term (4–12 weeks) and scoped to support senior stakeholders during periods of change, platform transition, or organizational realignment.

Experience Context

Architecting durable systems across marketing, enterprise, and knowledge platforms.

I’ve spent decades architecting the systems I now advise on.

My background began in advertising as a Technical Director and hands-on developer, supporting large-scale digital initiatives for brands including Toyota, eBay, Volvo, Best Buy, Target, Caribou Coffee, Cadbury, Hormel, and Jennie-O. This work required fluency across departments — sales, marketing, support, fulfillment, and operations — building systems that served the full organization, not just a single team.

More recently, my focus has shifted to enterprise knowledge, asset, and portal systems. I've been trusted to architect and manage platforms for organizations like Subaru, Trane, and Digi — work spanning media management, structured data governance, sales enablement, and customer support at scale.

These engagements have averaged over a decade of sustained use, evolving alongside the organizations they serve. That longevity reflects an architectural approach built for durability, not just delivery — which informs how I evaluate platform and AI-related decisions today.

I'm also the founder and architect of KNVEY, a knowledge infrastructure platform I built to solve the governance and scale problems I encountered repeatedly across these engagements. It informs my perspective, while my advisory work remains independent and platform-agnostic.
